Going into this project

The brief (self-set) was to design charm packaging that could be produced affordably in small batches, protect the product during shipping, present well in person and stays compliant with GPSR regulations.

  1. Constraints first

Small-batch production meant no custom die-cuts or large print runs. The packaging had to work within standard paper sizes and be foldable/assemblable by hand.

Having a plotter at home meant we could easily cut foldable boxes with minimal waste while having something that feels nice in your hands.

  1. Compliance with regulations

Since the introduction of the GPSR regulations, every eCommerce business is required to have the following things on every piece of product they sell:

  • SKU and batch number

  • Contact information

  • Safety insctructions

Having a box we could print at home to work with made this a lot easier for us. With every delivery we can print as much packaging as we need and update the files easily.

  1. Result

A clean, foldable paper box that photographs well, ships flat, and presents the charm in a way that feels special rather than generic and also offers a bit more protection.
